Logging Your Journey

Make sure that you have about 45 copies of the Daily Journal page to keep track of each day.  It is really important to write down your weight & progress, what you eat, drink, any exercise, etc. each day  Not only does it serve to keep you on track with your progress, it will show you what is working for you and maybe what is not working if you happen to stall.

One way to track your progress visually is to use a piece of graph paper and track your daily weight on it.  Lable the vertical axis with weight with your starting weight at the top and the horizontal axis with 1 through 43 for each day of the diet.  You will see how quickly and steadily your weight declines.

If you are someone who uses spreadsheets, keeping track and calculating your progress in one is extremely effective in displaying your progress.  Ask 1Body4Life for the Progress Log template which has already been created to help you.

1Body4Sixty - Day 1

Peggy - 219 lbs (Starting Weight)

Today I started the HCG diet with 1Body4Life Medical Center. At sixty-two years old, I realized that it was time to do something about my weight when I was told that I should go on statins for my cholesterol and lose at least 25 lbs. because I was borderline diabetic. (Should be spelled die-abetic!)

There were other signs, such as my knees bothering me especially when I went up or down stairs, buying larger and larger sized clothing, sleep apnea (waking 5 & 6 times during the night so that I could not get a decent night’s sleep), general fatigue and lost of energy from carrying all this weight around.

A good friend has just completed a six week round of HCG at 1Body4Life Medical Center and she lost 25 lbs.! She is my inspiration to begin my six weeks journey. There is not a diet that over the years I have not tried. I hope that you will follow along and encourage my progress. You are now my cheering gallery! I pledge to be totally honest with you about what I am eating, if a have a lapse (cheat) and all other information.

At 1Body4Life Medical Center, the HCG is administered by injection. I have had a life long phobia about injections, needles in particular. There is no way to describe the fear that I had. However, with a very patient nurse at 1Body4Life Medical Center, not only was I able to overcome my fear of needles, but I self injected the HCG! The syringes are very small with the tiniest of needles (approximately ¼”) and, yes, it is true, you do not feel them!!!! I was surprised and amazed.

The very worst of the initiation was the weighing and measuring at 1Body4Life Medical Center! Okay, I will share the ugly details with you: At 5’4” tall and 219 lbs. I have BMI of 38 which is 45% body fat!! The only thing good was that my blood pressure was a respectable 108/62! The rest of the measurements were: Chest – 49.5”, Waist (hard to find) 42.5”, Hips 50”, Thigh (R) 26.5” & (L) 25.5” (who would have thought your thighs could be a whole inch different!), upper arm 13”, neck 16.5”. The nurse also measured my ankles (9.5”), but the heavy women in our family (all of them) have always had very small ankles. My brothers have always joked that it was a miracle that those little ankles could hold up our bodies!

The first couple of days on HCG are the best! You are told to pig out, eat whatever, whenever you want!! Carb and sugar it up! Apparently, by getting your fill of carbs, it helps jump start the HCG diet. So as far as my menu today, I will suffice to say that breakfast consisted of 4 pcs. of French toast, ham, coffee and milk. I am considering pasta for lunch and perhaps a pizza (stuffed, of course) for dinner! I will absolutely indulge in desserts both meals.

Did I mention that there is B-12 mixed with the HCG, so I have an abundance of energy! Check in tomorrow for my second day update!

1Body4Forty - Day 1

Amy - 172.3 lbs (Starting weight)

As a single mom, widowed with 2 kids, being overweight made it harder to get myself out there and meet people.  Losing weight successfully for me, regardless of diet & exercise, has been near impossible after having had 2 children and being diagnosed with an autoimmune thyroid condition.   Although future health concerns are a factor in being overweight, right now I just want to look better for my 40-something age (and rock the skinny jeans!)  I want to be able to re-enter the dating pool (or swamp) without the label of ‘fat and ugly’ being stuck in my head.

I found 1Body4Life last year when I started a course of B12 shots and decided to do my first round of HCG.  By the end of the 40 days, I had lost 25 lbs and went from a size 18 down to a size 12!  What a victory to be able to lose so much fat in such a short period of time with very little ‘effort’ other than being dedicated to the HCG diet guidelines.  My motivation to strictly adhere to the diet during my first round was that, if I was serious enough to lose weight by injecting myself with a hormone each day, then I had to work at getting the best possible results.

Somehow even with 25 lbs lost, I know I’m thinner and I look better, but in photos I think I still look fat.  I am doing HCG again because I really would love to get down to 140, although by government standards, I will still be ‘overweight’.  I think I’ll look and feel better yet!

Since I knew that I was starting my 2nd HCG round today, I wasn’t very careful about what I ate for the past couple of days.  Having been 168 lbs only 2 days ago, I expected to start at about 170 going into my 2nd round, but was shocked to weigh in at 172.3 this morning- Yikes, I feel bloated and fat!

When it comes to this diet, losing pounds is only one aspect, but where it really shows is in the inches that you lose on your body.  These are measured every two weeks, until the six weeks are over.  I am starting out with the following measurements: Chest 49.0"; Waist 35.0"; Hips 41.0"; Thighs R 23.0", L 24.0"; Calves 14.5"; Upper Arms 12.0"; Neck 14.5".

Thank goodness for the 2 binge days going into the diet though.  It’s nice having the chance to say ‘Goodbye’ to your favorite foods in preparation for the next 38 days! I started the day out with a steak, egg & cheese bagel, skated in a competitions and then had a very 'late' lunch (or early dinner) of tortellini alfredo.  But my main goal today was to have deep dish pizza and a glass of wine for dinner, which gave me the calories I needed to load today and a slice of leftover pizza for lunch tomorrow!

1Body4Forty - Original Round

Amy - Original Round

During my original round of HCG in the spring of 2012, I went from 188.7 lbs. down to 163.7 lbs. in 6 weeks for a total loss of 25 lbs.  This amounted to a total of 29.5 inches taken off all over my body in 40 days.  I went from a size 18 all the way to a size 12!

As you can see, the results of my first round were dramatic, especially in my face -
